The Lord's Prayer - Part V

Give Us this day, Our Daily Bread

Dear Friends: Today, it is your meditation, to consider what Jesus meant by "Our Daily Bread." It would seem that Jesus was merely referring to God providing us with physical sustinance. But it is clear, that the bread God provides has a much deeper and more profound meaning. This is, the Living Bread that God provides to our souls through the eternal and pure everlasting Voice that speaks within Us, the Holy Spirit.

Mathew 4:

4 But he [Jesus] answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
1 Kings 19:

12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a Still Small Voice.

John 6:

31Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.

32Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.

33For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

Notice in 33, Jesus said "For the bread of God is HE." So it is clear what Jesus has asked us to pray for, not merely substance to fill our stomachs, but rather, substance to fill our souls. I believe that we must LISTEN to the Still Small Voice within, for prayer should be followed by meditation and that means, clearing the mind of all the noise we put there. How can we hear the Voice of God if we are not clearing our minds and being receptive? Communication is a two way street, which means, we must stop speaking in order that we may hear. God cannot speak to us if we do not stop our speaking to God and we will not receive the Bread if we are not prepared by being Silent.

So now, find your sacred place and meditate upon the meaning of the Bread and then be silent and wait. Visualize, the connection you have with God and have faith that you are One with God and not separate.
